Our Tips For Keeping it Luxury Whilst You WFH

We’re in the middle of one of the most world changing events in modern history. It’s safe to say the Coronavirus epidemic has affected us all in varying degrees of severity, but the main difference for most of us is having to work from home more often. With as many as 4 out of 5 of the UK workforce becoming homeworkers for the time being, now is the time to really consider your home office environment and make sure it’s a place that inspires and focuses you. The great thing about working from home is that you have your own exclusive space, so why not add a few luxury touches here and there?

It may seem simple, but candles have the potential to have many positive effects on your environment. Scented candles can have a number of benefits depending on the scent, but not everyone reacts well to them. Simply lighting a few candles to create an ambient light can soothe and relax you, which is great if you need to focus on a writing task or tackle those never ending emails with a stress free mind. They can also add and overall aesthetic value, like these Roberto Cavalli candles below.

This one is a no brainer. Studies have shown that cortisol (stress hormone) levels are higher in people who have a cluttered home, so this is a big no no when it comes to a home office environment. Not a naturally organized person? A simple way to declutter would be to sort all of your relevant office material into easily accessible compartments so that you can shut things away and find them again easily. Investing in some good shelves is a great way to keep organized while creating a look that’s stylish and modern.

House Plants

It’s become a millennial interior design staple to have various house plants scattered around the home. One study into biophilic design found that 10% of employee absences in the workplace could be down to architecture that had no connection with nature, which tells us that plants are pretty important when it comes to your work environment. Adding in a few leafy greens and pretty flowers here and there will work wonders for your mental health, but be careful not to go overboard or else you’ll end up with more of a greenhouse than an office!

Choose Your Colours Carefully

Every colour has the ability to psychologically impact us, especially if you’re confronted with a lot of it every day. You wouldn’t want to study in a room that was too colourful and distracting, so pick light neutral colours such as creams, whites, taupes and greys. Make sure you don’t end up creating a look that’s too clinical, as this won’t have a great effect on your productivity, so add warmth to the room with coloured accessories. You could even paint one wall a different colour, which can help the room seem bigger.

Good Coffee

Now that you’re not commuting to work and picking up a flat white from your favourite coffee shop, the coffee at your home needs to be top notch! Invest in a good coffee machine and you will be thanking yourself every morning, and what better way to serve it than with one of our Roberto Cavalli Espresso Cup & Saucers? Say good bye to those unsightly (and an environmental no no) disposable coffee cups and hello to a new stylish porcelain cup and saucer.
